Bumbu Semur is a classic, traditional Indonesian stew or braised dish (casserole) in which beef, chicken, eggs, or tofu are slowly braised in a rich, aromatic sauce.
Semur originated in Java and is strongly influenced by Dutch cuisine.

Storage: Store in a cool (not refrigerated) and dry place.
Preparation: Cook 450g of sliced beef or chicken. Leave 2 cups (500ml) of broth in the pan. Add bamboo semur and 1/2 tablespoon of sweet soy sauce, then reduce the heat to low. Cook on low heat for 45 minutes. Add 100g fried potatoes, 30g vermicelli noodles, and 2 tomatoes and serve hot. For a stronger flavor: fry 4 sliced shallots or 1/3 onion in oil/butter and add to the soup in step 2.
